Dooley’s Players is a student theater organization located on Emory University’s campus. I was an acting member of the board from the beginning of my Sophomore year in 2014 to my final semester of Senior year in 2017. During that time, I filled the individual roles of Treasurer and Publicity Manager.
As Treasurer, I submitted budgetary items to the College Council and handled all reimbursements. As Publicity Manager, I marketed all productions, special projects, and events held by Dooley’s Players. This would often require designing marketing materials and using social media for outreach. I also served as photographer for a couple of productions.
Dooley’s Players goal is to provide diverse traditional and contemporary straight-play experiences to both students at Emory who wish to participate in the production process as well as Emory and local community members who wish to see these plays produced. As Publicity Manager, my goal was to reach out to these two markets and advertise the marvelous theater experience Dooley’s Players can provide.
While I was Publicity Manager, I had the opportunity to collaborate with my co-chair Jemma Giberson and other board members to brainstorm ideas for outreach. During the design process, I often used Canva and other editing software to create professional-looking marketing materials to advertise our productions and events. I also collaborated with artist Josh Oberlander to create unique graphic designs for our organization, including a club logo.
